Fabric & Care

These shorts are made from extra sturdy 160gr/m2 recycled polyester performance fabric. The fabric is dyed on both sides, ensuring a deep and long-lasting colour that won't fade away after just a few rays of sunshine and a wash. 

The fabric of the shorts is made from 90% recycled polyester and 10% polyurethane.

The waterproof pocket is enclosed in fabric.
This will make sure you don’t feel anything sticking to your leg after getting out of the water (outside of accidental run-ins with jellyfish).

How Waterproof is the pocket?

The Waterproof pocket is 100% waterproof down to 30m/100ft. Certified to meet IXP8 standards.

Will my wallet/phone/passport fit inside the waterproof pocket?

Better yet, chances are that you can fit them all at the same time! The inner dimensions of the pocket are 201mm*140mm, or 7.9inch*5.5inch

Aren't these magnets going to kill my cards/car-key/phone?

Absolutely not! These Fidlock pockets have been carefully engineered to not only ensure a 100% waterproof closure, but also to keep your valuables safe.

The closure uses an evolved (and patented) technology where the magnets are embedded in the mechanism, thus ensuring that the minimum-security distance is achieved.

Can I simply wash these shorts?

Yes! See our fabric and care product instructions. The shorts are machine-washable, with no risk at ruining the fabric or the waterproof pocket, as long as you follow the washing label instructions. But make sure not to throw them in the tumble dryer, and don’t iron them.

Where are these shorts made?

The pockets are from Fidlock, a German industry-leader when it comes to magnetic closures in all shapes and sizes. The shorts themselves are put together in China before they come your way.

What about sustainability?

The fabric of the shorts is made from 90% recycled polyester. That means, that your shorts are made from 10 to 12 recycled PET bottles.

We will take a no-nonsense approach to packaging and shipping. No unboxing experiences that leave you with more unnecessary packaging materials to trash.

You can take this with a tiny pinch of salt. But, by saving your phone from drowning just once, you would already off-set the environmental impact of the production, use, and recycling of ~4-5 RAKE shorts*. * Estimation based on carbon footprint of a iPhone 11 (2019), and
industry standard swimming shorts.

What about guarantee and warranty?

We offer a limited lifetime warranty on all our swimwear against manufacturing faults. This covers refund of purchase and freight costs or free replacement. Our liability and warranty is strictly limited to this.

    OK, these are the real deal. When I received my shorts, I took a long-outdated iPhone, wrapped in a kleenex, and put it in the waterproof pocket. Then I put it in my pool leaf skimmer and drug it along the bottom of my pool, back and forth. Everything in the pocket emerged completely dry.     Great shorts! Delivered rather quick, as promised (via Kickstarter). The latest edition is more a US sized ('S' = more of an 'EU - M' one). My advice: follow their own size guide. Quality is there, and it is comfortable. Can't wait to go swimming to try it
