Cruise Packing List: Pool Decks, Port Days and Your Valuables

What to pack for a cruise: pool deck and dinner outfits, port-day essentials, and how to keep your phone, cruise card and cash safe on shore excursions.

His and hers swim shorts for a cruise holiday

Pack for a cruise in three parts: the pool deck, the dining room and the port days. The pool deck and dinner are easy. Port days are where people lose things, on beaches, tenders and snorkel excursions, so plan how you'll carry your phone, cruise card and cash.

For the pool deck

  • Two swim outfits and a cover-up.
  • Sunscreen and a hat.
  • A beach towel if your ship doesn't supply them for excursions.

For dinner

  • Smart casual outfits, plus one dressier outfit if your cruise has a formal night.

For port days

  • Your cruise card (you'll need it to get back on board), photo ID and a little local cash.
  • Reef shoes for rocky beaches.
  • A light layer for air-conditioned tours.

Keep your cruise card and phone on you

Your cruise card is your room key, your wallet and your ticket back on board, so don't leave it in a bag on a beach. Our swim shorts have a hidden waterproof pocket, sealed by magnets and IPX8-rated to 30 metres, so your card, phone and cash come into the water with you on beach days.

On the ship

  • Use your cabin safe for passports and spare cards.
  • Pool loungers fill up with unattended bags. Take only what you need to the deck.

What couples pack

The His & Her Holiday Bundle gives you both a waterproof pocket for port days. Women travelling together love the Byron Girl's Weekend Bundle.
